| Patrick Joseph Flanders II (known as P.J. to his friends and family) was born in San Francisco on March 28, 1980 and in 1988, moved, with his family, to the San Fernando Valley. PJ’s dreams and career aspirations began at an early age. As a child he wanted to have his own radio show and call it “The PJ Show.” In Jr. High he even made home recordings to play for friends and family. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1998, where he played linebacker and fullback on the football team during all four years in attendance. PJ was very school-spirited and even helped revive male yell leading at Notre Dame sporting events. |

PJ touched so many people during his life. As a friend, brother, son and colleague he inspired us all. At the time of his death, PJ was a business major attending Santa Monica City College and Los Angeles Valley College.
Although still a student at the time, PJ was an accomplished radio producer with Westwood One and Tesh Media, where he worked on such popular nationally syndicated shows as "The John Tesh Show," and "The Tom Leykis Show" as well as The Grammy Awards and The Latin Grammy Awards. Music was always a huge part of his life as he himself was an aspiring music business manager and lyricist. |

| On October 16, 2001, we suffered the devastating loss of Patrick, who was only 21 years old. He was the victim of a driver under the influence racing midday along Burbank Blvd at speeds reaching 120 mph. |

| PJ’s friends and family first started the tournament to commemorate his life, the life he lived, all of his many accomplishments and to honor the lives he touched. It has now also evolved into an event to bring awareness to our community of the effects of driving under the influence. It is our greatest desire to reduce the incident of death due to driving under the influence through education and awareness, so that the ones we love will have the chance to stay with us longer. |
